SONGS OF ZION

The choral moods flare at heaven’s gate
For the redeeming work is consummate,
Let all celestial minstrels sing again
As escorting seraphs strike the strain:
Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
And be lifted up, ye everlasting doors;
And the King of glory shall come in!

The guardian cherubs in those realms of gold
Marvel at one feat rare delight to behold,
God’s wondrous love triumphant at last;
Man’s penal portion on Christ’s cross cast,
And for sheer gladness in that Mighty Name
Together return this mellow strain:
Who is this King of glory?

Regal splendour shines from His countenance
As He ascends to prepare an everlasting place
For the nation that keeps righteousness,
From on high spreading grace consciousness,
Hark the ethereal quire’s exultant answer:
The LORD strong and mighty;
The LORD mighty in battle!

Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
And be lifted up, ye everlasting doors;
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory.
